Domestic autonomous control further advances, Loongson releases 16-core low-power server CPU, empowering small and medium-sized enterprises in digital transformation

China's Loongson has officially launched a 16-core server CPU based on the LoongArch architecture, with a thermal design power (TDP) of only 40W. It supports DDR4 ECC memory and provides 32 PCIe lanes, specifically designed for small and medium-sized business (SMB) server applications. The release of this chip marks a new stage in the development of domestically controlled computing platforms, further driving technological upgrades in the domestic server market.

In the current context of increasingly complex global semiconductor supply chains, Chinese local enterprises are accelerating their independent research and development of core technologies. Recently, Loongson Technology officially announced its next-generation 16-core server processor, built on its self-developed LoongArch architecture. This processor integrates high performance, low power consumption, and strong compatibility, offering a more cost-effective solution for SMB applications such as file storage, database management, and web servers.

Manufactured using advanced 12nm process technology, the processor features 16 cores and supports multi-threading, significantly enhancing the server's concurrent processing capabilities. Additionally, its TDP is only 40W, demonstrating excellent energy efficiency compared to similar products. The chip also integrates support for DDR4 ECC memory, ensuring stable and reliable data transmission, meeting the stringent requirements for system stability in enterprise applications. In terms of scalability, the chip provides 32 PCIe lanes, offering ample space for future hardware upgrades and adapting to diverse deployment needs.

As the acceleration of domestic substitution continues, Loongson processors have already achieved large-scale application across multiple industry sectors. As a leading provider of LED solutions in China, Goprol LED is also actively expanding into the fields of intelligent computing and industrial control. Its independently developed high-performance LED driver solutions and intelligent control systems can deeply integrate with domestic chip platforms, delivering more efficient and stable comprehensive solutions to customers.

The release of Loongson's 16-core server CPU not only demonstrates breakthroughs in performance and energy efficiency of domestic chips but also offers SME users more competitive options. In the future, as the domestic chip ecosystem continues to mature, the domestic server market is expected to see a more diversified development pattern.
