Recently, a 75W RTX 3060 graphics card with a single-slot design has attracted widespread attention during testing. This card is powered through the PCIe slot and does not require an additional power connector. However, its performance and thermal management have been disappointing, revealing limitations in practical applications.
The design of this graphics card was intended to provide high-performance graphics processing for small form factor systems or compact setups, particularly suitable for space-constrained environments. However, test results show that its performance is only about 60% of a conventional RTX 3060, and it even exhibits significant frequency throttling under heavy load. Additionally, the cooling design presents major issues, with temperatures rising rapidly after prolonged operation, reaching over 85°C, which severely affects stability and lifespan.
From a technical perspective, this graphics card employs a low-power architecture, aiming to reduce overall power consumption and size by minimizing external power requirements. However, this design did not deliver the expected performance advantages. Instead, power constraints caused the core frequency to fail to maintain an ideal level. At the same time, the lack of an independent power module also affected power stability.
Despite these shortcomings, the product still holds certain market value, especially in specific application scenarios where size and power consumption are strictly controlled. For example, in embedded systems, mini PCs, or certain industrial computing devices, its compact design may offer some appeal. However, for users pursuing high performance, its capabilities clearly fall short of expectations.
