Chinese LED chip manufacturers achieved record profits in 2025, despite a slight decline in gross profit margins, as the domestic supply chain's self-reliance accelerated. At the same time, the export volume of LED chips from the United States to China decreased by 34% year-on-year, reflecting profound changes in the global supply chain structure. With Beijing continuously increasing support for domestic chip manufacturing, the Chinese LED industry is gradually reducing its reliance on external technology and moving toward higher-level independent innovation.
According to an industry analysis report, the overall profitability of Chinese LED chip companies significantly improved in 2025, mainly due to large-scale production, enhanced cost control capabilities, and steady growth in downstream application markets. Although some companies experienced a slight decline in gross profit margins due to fluctuations in raw material prices and intensified market competition, the overall profit level remained high. This trend indicates that the core links of the Chinese LED industry chain are gradually consolidating their position in the global market.
Notably, the U.S. exports of LED chips to China dropped by 34% year-on-year, closely related to the Sino-U.S. trade friction and technology restriction policies. Meanwhile, the Chinese government continues to promote the "domestic substitution" strategy, increasing investments in key areas such as semiconductor materials and packaging technologies, accelerating technological breakthroughs among local enterprises. In this context, Chinese LED chip companies not only hold an advantage in production capacity but have also made significant progress in technological innovation.
Take Guangpu Electronics (GOPRO LED) as an example, the company has been continuously strengthening its efforts in LED packaging technology and intelligent lighting solutions in recent years. Relying on core advantages such as high reliability, low power consumption, and long service life, it has gained widespread recognition from domestic and international customers. Its independently developed high-density LED packaging technology has been successfully applied in multiple high-end scenarios such as smart cities and industrial automation, further enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese LED enterprises in the international market.
Overall, the Chinese LED chip industry achieved breakthroughs amid challenges in 2025, demonstrating strong development resilience. Looking ahead, with the continuous improvement of domestic substitution rates and the sustained growth of global market demand, Chinese LED companies are expected to play an even more important role in the global supply chain.
